The Titanic was the largest liner of its time. Built by the White Star Line,it was to carry more passengers and travel faster than any other ship before it. The ship was thought to be unsinkable. Its was divided into compartments which would water from flooding the whole ship.

The Titanic had more that anyone could imagine. It had decorated hallways and corridors, palm trees as well as luxurious dining and ball rooms. On its voyage the Titanic had over 2,200 passengers on board, many of them immigrants who spent their whole on a passage to New York.

Although the ship was the most modern of its kind, many problems were overlooked. There were not enough lifeboats in case of an . Not very many knew how to the new communications systems.

 

 


On its passage to New York the Titanic took a route that led it further north than normal routes, because it wanted to set a new record. When the first of icebergs reached the captain, he simply them. Around midnight the ship passed a gigantic iceberg which ripped the hull of the vessel. The passengers had hardly noticed the and went on sleeping, dancing and enjoying themselves. By the time the captain realized how big the disaster was he sent an SOS signal but there were no other ships near the Titanic.

As time went on passengers to the upper decks as the ship started to sink into the waters of the North Atlantic. About two hours after the ship had collided with the iceberg the Titanic sank. 1500 people were killed . Those who the accident were picked up by the Carpathia some hours later.
